Ep. 18/ The death of classical music

the real reason why we aren’t progressing

In honor of spooky season, we are discussing the death and rebirth of classical music as we confront the chilling reality of an industry entrenched in tradition, stifling innovation at every turn. The classical music world innovates at a snail's pace, and so many young musicians are tired of it.

I will be diving into the reasons why I think the classical music world refuses to move forward and innovate to meet modern audiences where they're at. From the deification of composers to problematic traditions, join me as I face these issues head on and offer possible solutions.

Let's discuss some practical ways we can shake things up! We'll explore how to bring classical music into the 21st century, like being more inclusive to breaking down musical traditions that are haunted by the ghosts of composers long gone.

“The solution to this problem should not be to continuously shapeshift problematic peices from the past. The solution should be to lift up  new works that relate to modern audiences.”
