Meet your instructor

I founded my voice studio in 2020 with a mission to nurture the melody within beginner and intermediate singers.

I’ve enjoyed teaching music and theater skills to kids at Arlington Children’s Theater at their summer day camp, in addition to music directing their 2022 winter production of Elf Jr. I’ve had the pleasure of coaching voice students at Berklee’s Vocal Choral Intensive and taught a foundational music theory course.

I received my Bachelor of Music degree in classical vocal performance from Northern Arizona University and my Master of Music degree in opera performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • My Teaching Philosophy

    Every student comes into voice lessons with a unique set of needs and musical goals. I believe it's my responsibility as an educator to help students meet their highest potential in a compassionate and nurturing environment tailored to the individual singer.

    Vocal health and efficiency are at the core of my lesson plans with my students. As a professional singer myself, I acknowledge that vocal health is so much more than just warm ups and humidifiers. I take a mind-body-instrument approach to teaching voice. It's impossible to separate our instrument from our mind and body so part of the work of developing your voice is learning to use your mind-body-instrument in harmony with one another.

    It's so important for singers to engage in a healthy relationship with their voices, which is why I provide a neutral framework for discussions of vocal sounds, nervous system regulation techniques for performance nerves, and a safe space for my students to explore the potential of their unique instruments. It is my mission as an educator to inspire artistic freedom and spread the joy of singing without the weight of perfectionism.

  • I offer voice lessons to beginner and intermediate singers of all ages (7+). Mary Kray Studios may be a good fit for you if:

    • You’re just starting your singing journey

    • You’ve been singing for a while but haven’t had much formal training

    • Your child loves singing and you think they might be ready for formal vocal instruction

  • My lesson plans revolve around the individual and is unique to each student based on their skill level and personal goals. I acknowledge that every musician has different goals, and I plan my lessons around the individual achieving those milestones by increasing the difficulty with each lesson and choosing repertoire that the student is passionate about.
